Lovelake was located at Lovejoy and 18th in NW Portland, Oregon. It was an idea more than a location. Lovelake as a name was inspired by a piece from Gilbert and George. I used the name as my pen name for an online diary before I ever moved to Lovejoy. Since 1999 I had a studio in the building and eventually I moved it downstairs in the storefront area, using it only part time as a studio and then part time as a gallery in 2002 - 2004. It was small and mint green. The above photo is from the first exhibition, a painting show by Cecilia Hallinan.
